Frequently Asked Questions
Insurance, Fees, & Payment
-
I don’t take health insurance at this time, but I am an out-of-network provider. See this handout for more info about out-of-network benefits.
-
Money shouldn’t be a barrier to treatment. That’s why I work on a tiered, sliding-scale payment system. It’s not a perfect solution, but I see it as the fairest way to address payment becoming a barrier to healing. I ask that you honestly consider your financial situation as we discuss your payment rate.
Since EMDR and Art Therapy can take longer than the standard 50-minute session, we’ll work out how much that extra time costs. Similarly, groups and workshops have a variety of factors to consider, which is why I provide rates depending on the specifics of each event.
-
The No Surprises Act protects you from unexpected healthcare charges, and therapists are obligated to provide you with a Good-Faith Estimate at the start of treatment. I will provide this estimate based on the rates we establish and the frequency of our sessions at the start of our collaboration.
-
I accept all major credit cards, and I accept cash for the exact amount of a session only.
The Therapeutic Process
-
Healing is not a quick fix! Therapy is not a linear process. As much as I wish it was a straight line towards progress, we can expect to have highs and lows, successes and setbacks. With this expectation in mind, I’m happy to tailor our therapeutic work to whatever timeframe fits your goals and needs.
-
I practice therapy from a relational-cultural, feminist, trauma-informed, and sex-positive framework. In other words, I believe that each person’s unique lived-experiences and identities have inherent value and wisdom. I recognize that many stressors today stem from disempowering social structures and unsustainable expectations. I try to be as mindful as I can to help people feel safe enough to show up authentically. I hope to not only help clients manage the difficult moments, but also empower them to embrace the things that bring joy, pleasure, and fulfillment to their life.
-
I am only accepting individual adult clients (ages 18+) at this time.
Families, couples, throuples/triads, or polycules are welcome to attend community groups and workshops together. If interested, ask about private group workshops!
